official language is Spanish. Quechua, the language of
the Inca Empire as well as the indian language Aymara
are also spoken. In some places of Peru English is spoken,

American dollar is accepted in most commercial firms,
restaurants and gas station according to the exchange
rate of the day. Visa, Mastercard, Diners and American
Express cards are also accepted in most enterprises. Travelers
checks use has restrictions. It is advisable to check
first, if they are accepted.
It
is advisable to be vaccinated againts yellow fever if
you visit the jungle. The only especific and efficient
measure againts the diseases is to vaccinate 10 days before
the entrance to the dangerous zone. In some regions of
the jungle, the certificate vaccination card is a must.

Tourist Visas
It is not necessary for the citizens of most countries
of America and Western Europe. The citizens of Bolivia,
Ecuador and Chile do not need any passport or Visa to
enter up to certain regions of Peru. In these situations
the authority stay term is 90 days (extendable by the
